FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Self-defense and karate lessons start at $50 per hour for up to two students. Group and seminar rates vary depending on the size of the group or the frequency of meetings.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
New students and I discuss their motivation for training, degree of experience, and program goals at our first meeting. We also assess their level of physical fitness and address any health concerns that could impact the curriculum. The first lesson or seminar begins with a demonstration of safe training protocol. Students learn how practice techniques without hurting themselves or their training partners. The fundamental aspects of self-defense are also introduced at the first lesson. Students learn basic techniques right away. This allows students to leave the session prepared to protect themselves and with an understanding of how the training will progress. It also allows us to better assess the proper pace for training.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a black belt level karate and self-instructor and former corrections officer.
