Introduction: Greetings! I am Rev. Ben Fitzgerald-Fye. I am a pastor and a spiritual director. I have an M.Div. from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary and completed the spiritual direction program at the Spiritual Renewal Center in Syracuse, NY. My goal is simply to help folks navigate their spiritual journey and develop stronger relationships with God. I believe it is important on this journey to make sure the individual is driving; so, I often refer to my work not as spiritual "direction" but spiritual "mentoring." Every journey is unique. I have studied monastic and Benedictine spiritual practices, contemplative prayer and practice, Maryology, and a variety of other approaches to spiritual development. I am personally Presbyterian but have a wider knowledge of various Christian theologies and spiritual practices. I have experience as a hospice chaplain working with grief and loss. I am a member of the LGBTQIA community and have worked with individuals suffering from religious trauma and have helped parents of LGBTQIA and other LGBTQIA folks affirm and accept that their identity or their child's identity is not an abomination but is an expression of the beauty and goodness of God's creation.
