Hired on Thumbtack

Thomas is a true craftsman. The closet came out even better than I imagined. The workmanship was superb and I was amazed at how quickly he was able to complete the job, considering his high standards.

Hired on Thumbtack

Do NOT hire Thomas Higgins. (*and maybe think about NOT using Thumbtack). I had to select at least one star on this rating, but if I could I'd give him zero. Thomas's poor work actually COST us money. My wife & I hired him to do some framing in our kitchen and the work was so terrible we had to have it ALL torn down and re-done. That included buying all new lumber for the project. I have photographs to prove the very low quality of his work. The cuts were jagged & inaccurate so that there were gaps between where the studs met the support beams. Nothing was not attached correctly and I could literally grab the studs and twist them. Two contractors who came into quote the job confirmed that the work was terrible & that it would be unsafe to hang the weight of drywall (let alone cabinets!) on this framing. Thomas also left random screws left jutting out of the wood. I called Thomas about the poor work & he instantly became defensive. Not wanting a long, drawn-out argument, I asked for half the money back. He refused that offer and said he'd only give us $100 back. I'm currently trying to resolve this with Thumbtack, but they seem unwilling to help me get a refund. So, first of all, I'm planning on pursuing a small claims court case to retrieve the full $400. And second, I am recommending to all friends that they NOT use Thumbtack & instead go with TaskRabbit, where they do a better job of vetting their "pro's" and do a better job of ensuring customer satisfaction.
