In today's digital world, many people have access to good cameras and anyone can take a picture. What separates me from most other photographers is my ability to coach and connect with my subject. Although this may not seem very candid to some, it needs to be done in order to produce quality portraits and headshots. Left to someones own devices, the subject can often look heavy, have a double chin and have that wide eyed out to lunch look. I like to get the right "connection" and "expression" with my subjects before snapping the photos. I feel that without this connection you have nothing. Every shoot is different and presents different challenges. This can be a person to person situation, a lighting perspective or from an environmental perspective, i.e., tight space. Being faced with these challenges keeps me up on my toes. Photographers are sometimes required to be good problem solvers in addition to being good artists.
