Before I discovered the Law Office of Mary Katherine Brown (MKB), I was advised by an attorney in a well-established part of town. During the consultation, the first thing he did was cranking out numbers for the payments I would have to make. For the rest of the consultation, I was unable to get him to listen to my real concerns and advised me accordingly. I felt like I was seeing an accountant more than an attorney. With Ms. Mary Katherine Brown at MKB, I was able to discuss my situation. She looked at it carefully before any legal options were presented, and advised me what position each option would put me in. She addressed my issues, cleared up my confusion, answered all my legal questions, and informed me of the governing laws. All that in plain English and repeated if I could not follow. Her approach to the problem I faced with a patient and caring attitude helped me make the right choice. She also pointed out whether litigation was necessary in my case instead of just advocating it to obtain legal fees from the client. In other words, she is acting in her clients' interests first, not hers. As necessary in my particular situation, she also referred me to another equally competent attorney in a different area of the law, which saved me the trouble of finding one myself. Obviously with her excellent legal advice and services, you do not expect her to be next to the phone whenever you call--she may be in consultations or litigation. Her aides are all professional, courteous and helpful to relate messages in a timely manner, or set up appointments with her. Her billing is transparent and honest. Her fees are significantly lower than those in the well-established part of town. You should not be surprised by everything positive I have to say about my experience with MKB because, as part of her stated objectives, it is the goal of Ms. Mary Katherine Brown to do all she can to achieve the best possible result for her clients with a good lawyer's toolbox. She exceeds the expectations of a good lawyer.

True Professional. Mary Katherine Brown was my attorney for four years helping me to go through a difficult divorce with a stubborn and spiteful husband. She was assertive and knowledgeable, and always choosing the most cost-effective strategies. Mary Katherine was not someone who would be at my husband and his attorneys’ throat all the time. Our choice as a team was to be reasonable, firm and fair, and keep my child’s interests first. Whenever I felt stuck and helpless because of the opponent side’s pressure, Mary Katherine understood my concerns, listened to my ideas and helped to choose the optimal course of action. I feel that I am protected by the Settlement Agreement drafted by Mary Katherine.

I had a very postive experience with Ms. Brown. I found myself in a potentially difficult custody battle and with limited financial resources. She gave me helpful advice about my legal aid options, despite it meaning a potential financial loss for her. However I did end up hiring her as my lawyer. She responded quickly to my queries and I was very satisfied with my overall experience. I would recommend Ms.Brown if you find yourself needing a family lawyer who will listen to you and offer support in difficult times.

Ms. Brown is an exceptional asset to have on your team when navigating the unfamiliar waters of family and immigration law. Ms. Brown was compassionate, thorough, efficient and most importantly effective. She responded to phone calls, text messages and emails in a timely fashion and never made me feel as if my question was too mundane to be answered seriously. I appreciated her dedication to helping my family understand the experience we were going through from start to finish. Yes, of course! I regularly complete Continuing Legal Education courses. Some are required in order for me to maintain my license, but I take far more than what's required because I want to know all I possibly can about my practice areas. I also want to learn something about the areas I don't focus on in case my client's need additional help. It's really important to me to be a knowledgeable resource for my clients, if I can't help them directly I almost always know someone who can.
