Introduction: I feel my work stands out from others in many areas. As a teacher, I bring passion, joy and energy to my lessons and love the feeling of seeing a student succeed. Aside from teaching, I also work as a performing musician, where I put to use my craft as a guitarist and a composer. I feel it's rare to find all of these qualities in a music teacher. I enjoy so many aspects of teaching music. First of all, just helping people improve at something as powerful and amazing as music is always gratifying. I also really enjoy the personal interactions with the student; we are human beings after all!

Guitar lessons with Sam are the highlight of my week! Sam's deep passion for music is infectious in his lessons. He has the special gift of helping his students feel the same excitement he feels about music. As his student, I felt his support from the first note I played on guitar. He is one of the most positive people I have ever met and helps me embrace the challenges of learning a new instrument, rather than fear them. He breaks down concepts so that they are easy to understand and makes learning guitar extremely fun. When I leave a lesson with Sam, I am inspired to practice for hours, not because he asked me to, but because of the excitement he passed on to me in our lessons. I feel so lucky to have him as my teacher and do not want to imagine studying with anyone else!! (In addition to being an incredible music educator, Sam is also an amazing performer. Watching him play at concerts further inspires his students to want to practice. He is the real deal and carries out what he teaches in his own life. He is a great role model.)

Sam is a great guitar teacher. His hands on and focused approach increased my finger technique and knowledge of harmony tenfold. Studying with Sam will actually make you *want* to practice, which is in stark opposition to other teachers with a sullen, dark attitude who simply collect their paycheck and kick you to the curb, leaving your rear sore and your ego bruised. So, go with Sam! I'd gladly vote the man into office if the ability to teach guitar translated into a decreased tax bill, more jobs, and mandatory chocolate cake on Fridays at 5 PM.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I feel my quotes are fair for the quality of teaching I provide, but if you are interested and the price isn't what you are looking for, please reach out and I will see what I can do.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once the first lesson is setup, I usually help design a curriculum that both the student and myself will be happy with. Every student is different, but I also have taught so many styles and seen so much success in my students that I feel I can help anyone get off to a great start.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an undergraduate Studio Music and Jazz degree from the University of Miami Frost School of Music where I was able to study with some of the world's greatest teachers and learn and play with some amazing classmates. After my undergrad, I was invited to come back as a Graduate assistant where I taught college level courses in addition to completing my Master's degree in Jazz Pedagogy. Since completing my degrees, I have worked on constantly keeping up with most aspects of music whether it be technology, education, or the business. Aside from teaching my own curriculum, I have also helped design a curriculum at a school that I am heavily involved with called Mark Murphy's Music.
