Introduction: Music is a vast art, but it is entirely possible to learn it even if one has no experience, is very old or very young, or thinks they "have no musical sense". Often, it is only the absence of opportunity that creates this impression in the student! First, one focuses on being able to understand the core components of it--rhythm, pitch, melody, harmony--and then how to use them to express themselves. My goal as a teacher is always to facilitate the inclination of the student, and provide a track to a goal. It's a bit like being on a go-kart track..you're buzzing along, and if you hit the side, you're not going to crash, it will just bump you back onto the general path. I am the the track and you are the go-kart. Music is my life. Teaching it is its own reward. I especially like reaching that breakthrough point with a student, where they realize, "oh wait, I just did that on my own!".

Logan is nothing short of an outstanding teacher. I have 10-15 years of playing background, but hadn't picked up my saxophone in years and was badly in need of some instruction. After I started taking lessons with Logan, I quickly realized I couldn't have found a better teacher. Logan did a great job of quickly assessing my musical background, current skill level, and priorities/goals going forward. His technical ability and all-around musical knowledge are all off the charts - this guy really knows his way around a saxophone, and is a serious composer to boot. He's been playing on the national and international jazz circuits since high school and (if I remember correctly) furthered his musical training at the New England Conservatory. He brings an infectious energy to every lesson that makes them fun, exciting and really fruitful. Whether you are trying to learn basics from the ground up or want to get into the deeper levels of musical theory/improvisation/composition, Logan is more than qualified. I guess in closing I would say that after taking lessons with lots of other teachers over the years before finding Logan, he is (in my opinion) the ideal combination of top-level chops AND theoretical knowledge, while still being personable and making every lesson a blast. It's only a matter of time before this guy's career as a player blows up, so if you're at all on the fence about lessons, snag a lesson with this guy before he's onto other things, and (re)discover the joy of saxophone.

I had a fantastic first lesson with Logan and will definitely continue to take lessons with him. We went over a range of things such as technique, music theory, ear training, and even some music history as well! Logan is an extremely gifted musician and composer too. As far as teaching goes, he was personable, energetic, and encouraging. Also, he was extremely flexible in dealing with many different styles and types of music as well, and made me feel quite comfortable with the direction I was looking to go in musically. I would highly recommended Logan for all ages and levels of experience.
