Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I make a point of taking the time and effort to learn what each student's individual needs are. Some people like having a more structured, goal-oriented approach to lessons, and others like to do more playing by ear. It's my job to figure out how to keep you seeing progress and having fun! I like meeting new people and sharing the gift of music. Music is so personal and it's really gratifying when I see a 'light bulb' go off above a student's head when they finally nail their favorite song, or figure out a new technique.

Alastair has been a great piano teacher for my two daughters, aged 9 and 11. He is patient but firm and has an easy rapport with kids. His love for music is apparent and infectious. Highly recommend him!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I offer 30 minute, 45 minute, and 60 min lessons at different prices. Inquire for a quote!

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

My guitar lessons are geared more toward learning songs and playing by ear in whatever style of music is most enjoyable for the student. With piano I make a point to encourage the student to start reading music as well as how to play basic chords changes. With saxophone I encourage my students to listen to great jazz to explore the history of that instrument.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I have a student that I started on saxophone when he was in 5th grade. Now years later, he goes to LaGuardia High School of Music and Art, and is in the Lincoln Center Jazz high school program! I'm very proud when I can help music into the life of a student in such a big way.
