Steve Brueckner Tutoring

I have been tutoring math for over 10 years now. I have experience teaching ALL ages and grade levels. I have worked with students with a wide variety of struggles, including those with learning disabilities. I also have experience tutoring adults who are continuing education who haven't looked at a textbook in years. I'm also very well-versed in the recently new Common Core Curriculum (New York State). I started tutoring when I was in high school. Because I had done very well on the recent tests, I was given the opportunity to help other students after-school for extra credit. After seeing how much I had helped my fellow students, my teacher had suggested I start doing it privately. Ever since, I have constantly been challenging myself to teach more and more. I'm very proud to say that over the years, I haven't done much advertising. An overwhelming majority of the students I tutor come from "word-of-mouth" referrals. Because of my approach, students see results almost immediately. Over time, as their grades continue to rise, they learn how to consistently improve on their own mentalities and study habits. I start with focusing on the immediate need of the student (current lessons, homework, studying for tests, etc.) As I learn more about the student's strengths and weaknesses, I find what practices work best in helping the student learn. Once we "fine tune" studying and mental habits, I then focus on teaching the student how they can identify what specific issues they have, WHY, and how they can train themselves to overcome them. Although I went to college for Business, I have taken many classes to keep my tutoring skills sharp (Psychology, Mathematics, Physics, Business Math, etc.). While I'm no longer in a classroom of my own, I'm constantly practicing my skills and keeping up to date on curricula.
