Mike and the rest of A-1 Entertainment were a pleasure to work with, straightforward and down-to-earth. Johnny was our wedding DJ, and he was a welcome presence at our reception (40-50 people). He was responsive to the tone of the room, and a nice guy to boot! Would definitely recommend.Oct 14, 2014Verified
Mike did a great job entertaining the crowd and getting the party started. He was flexible and very easy to work with.May 19, 2014VerifiedA-1 Entertainment Consultants's reply
This was a lot of fun because we did karaoke and had a lot of participation from the group. It's the (encouraged) interaction that creates the synergy that creates the great time people have at events I do.
Mike was our DJ for our daughter's wedding reception. The bride and groom are big fans of Irish/Scottish music, and Mike had no trouble putting together the kind of music they wanted. He even found multiple versions of a fairly obscure song my Dad requested at the reception. At our request, he kept the music quiet enough so that we could talk during dinner, and he was great to work with. I would definitely recommend Mike and A-1 Entertainment.Aug 18, 2014Verified
Karaoke Machine Rental
A-1 Entertainment and its staff provided EXCELLENT customer service and follow-through (with very short notice). The DJ was fabulous - very engaging and energetic. He came with a complete DJ system, including karaoke software, lights and fun ideas to keep the crowd moving all night. Would definitely recommend their services.Oct 21, 2014VerifiedA-1 Entertainment Consultants's reply
DJ "Jonny Love" is great. He has worked with me for over 10 years. He knows how to make a party go in the right direction. He is young and energetic and knows how to read a crowd. The result is always a super party!
Photo Booth Rental
I had a last minute idea, and went on Thumbtack to try and find entertainment for our girls basketball program's end of season party on 3/16/2018. I sent in a request for a Photo booth rental and Mike got back to me within minutes, with the lowest quote. I was immediately concerned with the "lowest price", but we had no budget for this, but I knew we needed something. After speaking with Mike, I told him this was for 60 youth kids that range from 4th grade to 8th grade. He said "I got this" and he delivered. He was on time, girls loved the setup and the 3 tables of props made for a wonderful night. Mike even stayed an extra 30 min at no charge. I would recommend A-1 Entertainment! See you next year....North Colonie Youth Girls Basketball :-)Mar 19, 2018Verified
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Yes I do. I attend the National DJ Conference in Las Vegas each year to keep up on the latest and greatest innovations in my industry. Whether it's marketing, equipment, or shared experiences of others, that's how you improve your skills.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?No matter what profession you do, you should love it. I was pre-med in college (my father/grandfather/cousin/brother were all doctors.) I had good grades but no passion for what I was doing. My true passion was in music and entertainment. So I went to my father and told him I wanted to do music for a living and he said, in his own words. "Go for it!" I did and I haven't looked back since. It's seeing the joy on people's faces that makes me happy and feel fulfilled in my chosen profession.
- What types of customers have you worked with? The most popular performance I do for parties or weddings is the "Live Performance DJ" in which I play live keyboard for a ceremony or cocktail hr, then go into "DJ mode" for dancing. It's a great combination and gives a "touch of class" to the event! I also have the option of adding more instruments such as a sax or violin. Of course I can always do straight DJing with a great light show.
