As an Artist and Educator I bring tons of experience to my students. Most of my students want to learn how to play Rock and Pop tunes either on their acoustic (steel string guitars) or their electrics. I grew up performing this music and I teach these students how to read music or just interpret TAB. I tailor my instruction to my students needs. On the other side of my expertise I am a Concert Guitarist who has performed at Carnegie Recital Hall many times and other concert halls throughout the U.S and Europe. I train students to be adjudicated at NYSSMA. One student received a score of 98% on a level 6 piece for classical guitar.
I have been a NYC and now Peekskill City School district NYS Certified Music Teacher and Guitar Instructor for 29 years and have been teaching guitar privately since I am sixteen years old.
I have always loved teaching music especially the guitar. Since my teens I have been performing and one way to augment my income was to teach. I enjoyed it so much I decided to teach for a career and continue to perform on a professional level. To see a student come to me who is starting from the very beginning and blossom into a fine player. I also enjoy teaching students the proper technique so if they stop their lessons they can always pick up the instrument years later and remember how to hold it, play with proper technique and always enjoy the instrument no matter what the age of the student.

Larry Del Casale is a wonderful and talented instructor! He has a great approach and is very patient and encouraging with my 8 year old son, who has been taking private acoustic guitarlessons with Larry for the past 6+ months. Larry makes my son feel comfortable, confident and capable in his ability to play. And since Larry is a professional, his lessons are not just limited to the music – he also teaches the Art of Music. Like many people I've fiddled around on the guitar for many years but wanted to learn to actually play the instrument. I've been working with Larry for about three months and have progressed further than I would have in three years on my own. Larry combines a good mix of technical instruction and emphasis on musicality and provides a relaxed environment for lessons. He is very flexible and I would highly encourage him as a teacher for anyone trying to learn to play the guitar.

My 13 year old daughter, Alessandra, has been taking guitarlessons with Larry Del Casale since Summer 2012, so a little more than 4 years. He integrates theory, technique, and passion together in a way that made her progress at an amazing rate. I think Larry is one of the reasons why my daughter loves and enjoys playing the guitar so much.

Larry is excellent!! I have been taking classical guitarlessons with him for close to a year now, and he’s the best instructor I’ve ever had. He has the perfect combination of passion and knowledge and passes that along in an easy and intuitive way. He tailors my lessons with a combination of technical focus along with the music I love, therefore teaching me how to be more musical. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes, I do. I break up an hour lesson accordingly: $40 for 30 mins. $50 for 45 mins, and $65. for 60 mins. Unlike others, I charge per lesson not in advance, a pay as you go policy. This allows the student the flexibility with both their time and money. I offer bi-monthly lessons for many students who need more time to practice and/or work at their jobs.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Initially I prefer to speak with the customer and "zero in" on what type of music they want to learn. I do this because it will boost a new students' confidence once they can play the music they enjoy. This confidence propels the student to learn and play more.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My training in Music is extensive. I hold a BM in Music and Performance from The Mannes College of Music in NYC. I hold two Masters: M.M in Music Educ. Hunter College (CUNY) and an M.S in Supervision and Admin. Baruch College (CUNY). I hold, NYS Certification in Music Educ. K-12. and 32 years of teaching Music in Public schools. I am now retired from Public school teaching.
