Introduction: I take care of dogs in my home as opposed to in a kennel. This lessens the stress a dog feels away from his normal environment and people. They get to lay on the couch, what's better than that? I love dogs. I also love the feeling of giving my clients peace of mind when they go away. I've had many people tell me how good it feels not to worry about their dog's well being when they're with me.

I first became friends with Robin when we were both living in NYC and I had the pleasure of accompanying her on the many walks she would take the dogs that were under her care at the time. I always marveled at her complete confidence with the different breeds and personalities she would lead through the parks and streets of the Upper West Side. So when Buster, my Boston Terrier puppy, came into my life, knowing Robin was a God send. I have left him in Robin's capable hands on many occasions due to my work. And because of her total commitment and the experience she has, she has helped him develop into a responsive and completely enjoyable dog. He comes home happy and fit and just a little more well rounded. She takes the time to give me advice on handling him and I have gained the confidence I was so lacking when I first took on the responsibility of a new puppy. Now, when I have to go away, not only do I get to leave him in a home environment in the company of other dogs and Hope, the resident cat, but I also get to leave him with someone I can so completely trust.

As new dog owners to a French Bulldog puppy we were hesitant to leave her when we went on vacation. I looked at 3 places, including the equivalent of a prison where she would not have even seen another dog and would have been taken out 2 times a day. The next best was a home where she would have spent significant time in the basement in her cage among other non-socialized barking dogs. Then I found Robin - and the minute I walked into her house and experienced her calm, sweet demeanor, I was sold. My puppy T-Bone was obviously comfortable there. T-Bone has been to Robin's house twice now and we consider it a vacation for her. She gets to play with other dogs and be cuddled and loved by Robin and she is returned happy and safe. I couldn't imagine a better place to leave her!

robin is the greatest! her service was personal, dedicated and tailored to our two dogs. we travel a lot and robin is the only person/place we have ever left our two dogs where we have felt completely relaxed. robin has such great energy and she shares that with her clients and all her 'pets'-!

What a relief to find Robin! When I moved to the area from the city where dog walkers and sitters abound, I found a bleak offering of kennels that seemed to be the only option for my babies when I traveled. With a little persistence, I found Hudson Valley Dog Boarding, and met Robin. Now, I rest easily knowing that my two boys are safe in a loving, comfortable, warm home with toys and people and pets, getting as much love and attention as I heap on them myself.

FAQs

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

We dog boarders LOVE to have as much info about your dog as you can give. Such as, "He's mostly housebroken but has occasional accidents." Or "She chews on shoes and books." Or "She chews on cats." (Which wouldn't work here as I have one) Or "He's a nervous dog and becomes anxious when you leave the room." Or "He bites when you reach for his food bowl." Or "She barks when people ring the doorbell and may bite if they come in." Or "She has a skin issue where she scratches and licks. All. Night. Long." Please be honest, we're going to find out anyway. Most things are manageable. Except cat chewing..
