Susan Levy is wonderful to work with. The food was delicious, warm, and well-presented. Several guests wanted her contact information after our 60 person event. She is a hidden gem in the Albany area. She will not disappoint.

Susan Levy and her team covered everything I asked for and more! Rave reviews from my guests about all of the dishes that were prepared. Service was right on! Bar service was excellent! My event was an outdoor venue and I was anxious about how it would all flow. Susan's presentation and responsiveness to any request were right on point. I will DEFINITELY, use David Jamer Catering again.

We were absolutely blown away by Chef Sue’s food when we had our tasting back in 2019. Flexibility with rescheduling during covid was a plus, especially since she made our new date work having already booked another wedding. However, when we went over our plan a few months before the date, she had some details noted incorrectly (i.e. plated vs. buffet. When the day came, the appetizers were as delicious as we remembered, but most of the meal didn’t seem quite right (especially the port wine braised short ribs I had been dreaming and raving about for two years). On top of that, we remembered talking about champagne at our tasting meeting, then right before our ceremony had to send one of our guests to pick up champagne and they ended up missing it. We were told guests could also have any drink they wanted made as long as it contained the liquor we offered, but when guests attempted this, they were told no. Perhaps these things happened because she was at the other wedding that day? Her replacement, Jen, was wonderful and very attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. Despite it all, I would still recommend Chef Sue because she is an amazing chef, offered to make us signs (though we had already made them), and made us a personalized cutting board! Just maybe make sure to go over every detail of your contract.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    I talk to them and see what they are looking for . I customize every menu to my customers needs. We decided on a menu and price . Then I set up a tasting to make sure I can provide for them what they want. Then when that goes well , we sign a contract.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I am a culinary institute of America graduate, and I was a chef in the United States Coast Guard for 27 yrs .

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

    I volunteered my services to work at the Mark Twain house . I support a non for profit animal rescue group called Kenways Cause . They help all dogs and cats in the Hartford area. It is a great cause because they help so many animals a year and I love animals.
