I met with another dog trainer for a consultation, but decided to invest in Adrienne's three-week board and train program instead and it was totally worth it! My 6 month-old Brittany Spaniel was an independent and high-energy pup. She did not have much of a food or toy drive for attempting training on my own. She came back from Adrienne's program with much more self-control and a complete set of manners! I'll be sending her back to Adrienne when she's a bit older for some fine tuning, but in the meantime- I've got myself a much more manageable puppy!

Adrienne Mesko is an outstanding dog trainer, and those seven words are an understatement. I have only superb things to say. Adrienne has impeccable training credentials, a lifetime spent around animals, a perfect environment for training dogs inside and outside, and, most of all, a sound, consistent, thoughtful, intelligent and effective approach. And very reasonable rates for the astonishingly good training results. When I looked for a dog trainer on Thumbtack, it was as an almost a last ditch attempt. I'd tried everything with Kai, it seemed: not once, but twice at New Skete, the best in-home trainers for problem dogs that I could find in NYC, consults with excellent vets, Chinese herbs, nutrition changes, working at home every day, every leash/harness/muzzle/collar imaginable, but still he had seriously problematic behaviors: over-protectiveness and resulting aggression that led to lungeing and barking at other dogs and people and even several biting incidents. He's a strong adolescent male GSD, and his pulling on the leash led to dislocated knees and herniated discs. He's a love of a guy, however, and he'd had a difficult first six months (4 homes), and it was worth anything to give him a chance. So I went on my new Thumbtack app (it had worked well for me before) and Adrienne's credentials and skills sounded perfect for what we needed. You can see from the photo below how well he does with other dogs after his "board and train" with Adrienne. He's a dream on a leash. He's well behaved at home, hanging out peacefully on his raised bed "place," no more destructive behaviors to get attention. He listens, pays attention, and stops instantly when told "no," rather than making his own rules. His behaviors now match the smart, affectionate dog he always was on the inside. She's trained his humans to use the training approach she taught him, so all he's learned can come home with him. I will be thanking Adrienne Mesko for the rest of my days! And I'd be happy to talk about her work in person.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a standard weekly rate for board and trains, length of time will vary according to what your dog needs. Behavioral modification programs for aggressive dogs are priced on a case by case basis. I have a standard rate for private lessons and offer set rate packages to make lessons more affordable.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Everything I do is customized to the client's needs. Sometimes people just need brushing up on obedience or help with household management issues. These clients benefit from private lessons. However, the majority of our clientele take advantage of our board and train programs. The process of training begins with an evaluation of your dog and the issues unique to your household and setup. This is done at pickup of your dog and the start of training. Your dog will spend anywhere from 2-6 weeks with us depending on the program you have selected. During that time your dog will receive daily walks, training and diligent care in a comfortable home, not a dog kennel. You will receive weekly video updates and are welcome to reach out to us at any time to check in on your dog. Upon completion of training, you will receive a lesson in your home (usually approximately 2 hours) to reintegrate your dog into your home and transfer the training over to you.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition to years of training and competing with my own dogs, I attended The Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers in Fairfield, California in 2014. There I learned Michael's highly effective training system. After completing my formal education in California I went on to complete a two year apprenticeship with a specialized sport and obedience trainer in western Pennsylvania. During that time I truly learned dog training--drive, motivation, breaking things down into pieces, setting criteria and not deviating. I also ran private lessons and trained and cared for boarding dogs at the facility. This formed the foundation of all of the work I do today.
