Introduction: My name is Jesus Saenz, and I am the Co-Founder for Musicians for the World Inc., a Non-Profit Organization committed to empowering vulnerable communities worldwide through virtual music education. As one of the main violin teachers for MFW, I teach weekly private lessons and masterclasses to students in Kenya, Haiti, Peru, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, and Suriname. I am fluent in both English and Spanish. My in-person teaching experience includes faculty positions at the El Sistema Somerville (MA), Rockwall School of Music (TX), and guest professor at the Boston String Academy, and Longy Side by Side. As a performer, I have traveled to over 25 countries around the world with different ensembles, and I have taught violin masterclasses in Peru, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, and Suriname during these travels. My main goal in teaching is to encourage students to use whatever they have available to them, physically and mentally, to get the best results. I believe that discipline and fun go hand in hand and I do my best to encourage discipline in an exciting, entertaining way. I offer a 50% discount on trial lessons. The student's comfort is a priority to me, and I like to make sure that we are a good fit!

Having Jesús as a teacher opened for me a new way of seeing music and understanding how my relationship with my violin can be. I can´t be thankful enough to Jesús because I´ve improved a lot on my instrument and also I´m getting to enjoy music more and more everyday. He is a very knowledgeable person and such a great inspiration to me.

Firts of all, i'd like to say thank you so much to my techer Jesus Saenz, thank you for everything I have learnt of him. His passion, dedication, motivation, something that we can't explain only with words, we can feel it in classes or lessons we had. Despite the distance of the knoledge, everything is possbile to learn, like virtual lessons that really helped me, much better with the teacher Jesus Saenz teaching. I see how professional he is, that's why I really aprecciate him. This experience is unique for me because every single day I learned something new, that is what we want, that someone can see our inperfections in music, and say us that we can improve with some methods or different ways of teaching that can make us improve. There is something important that I could see too, because it's not only to teach or to give all information, intead of giving it, it's to make students discover their passion, how smart we are, it is really valuable of the teacher Jesus. On the other hand, I have started music three years ago, I practice daily this lovely instrument, the violin, something that make me feel happy when I play, we can feel peace with the sound, even the place I am or can't play perfect the musics. But the most important is to feel good and to continue studying. Now I can play better than before, because of the constant lessons and corrections that I had with the teacher Jesus. Againg many thaks.

Working with Jesus was always a wonderful experience. He has a very detailed understanding of musical style, history, and theory. He was the perfect mix of being picky and the seeing bigger picture. He never made me feel stuck this way. I always felt like I was making progress. Jesus is also just a lovely person overall. He was always friendly, warm, and genuine. He made me feel comfortable and happy to be playing music. I’ve taken both in person and online classes with him on and off for years. I know online lessons are not preferred but, I must say, Jesus is an expert with them. You kind of forget that it is an online lesson by the end because it is so engaging. After saying all of this, I must add...he is an INCREDIBLE violinist! There is so much to learn from him. I highly recommend Jesus as a violin teacher.

Jesus was very helpful and was able to teach me through examples of his own playing. I felt like he was very engaged and that my lesson was a very personal experience. I have had teachers before that just told me to use a metronome and a tuner, but Jesus was very professional and wanted to help me find personal solutions to improve my playing.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    Online, or in person at teacher's home. 1h =60$ 3/4 h =45$ 1/2 h =30$ free 30 min trial lesson. At student's home: 1h = 100$ (30 min or 45 min lesson available for students near La Gardia Airport!)

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I set up a trial lesson with the student with a discounted price. During this lesson, I typically like to discuss the goals and needs of the student along with their musical experiences. I then let them know what my plan would be for lessons going forward and then, I let the student decide how to proceed. The student has the freedom to reach back out to me or not.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

-Bachelor degree: Texas Christian University -Performer Diploma: Southern Methodist University -Master Degree: University of North Texas -GPD: Boston Conservatory at Berklee -Graduate from the Orchestra of the Americas Global Leaders Program
