I had a wonderful experience working with Carrie Lutheran to improve the appearance of my 10x20 booth I use at juried shows. She was the only professonal willing to work on an unusual project. I feel she should receive the highest ratings possible for always being available, being creative, being professional, and treating me as though I was her only client. Her designs showed that she listened to me and she did not have a problem with my desire to make any changes. She held my hand through the whole project and it was a wonderful success. I would hire her again in a heartbeat. Additionally, her rates are very reasonable.

Carrie has not only changed the feel of my home but the feel of my life. When I walk into my home it feels welcoming and open. My living room is now a peaceful place to be opposed to the old "dungeon" it felt like. She also worked on my bedroom to help me find the perfect paint color to make it a more relaxing place to be. Her design skills speak for themselves. She even helped me declutter my home and realize all of the items I was holding on to that no longer provided any use to me. Carrie is professional and listens to exactly what you are looking for. She is an A+ in my book.

I had two wall closets stuffed to the hilt with over 10 years worth of belongings and clutter, much of it haphazardly thrown into 25 or 30 boxes. Carrie laid out a strategy to address it and provided a guide on an easy to follow printed handout. She assisted me in clearing, organizing, and cleaning out for an hour or two on four weekends. Following her plan, I was able to do the rest on my own.
A couple months later, my closets contained just six boxes of sorted and labeled belongings! I delivered probably 20 large bags of unwanted items to charitable organizations, and was able to sell much of the rest for several hundred dollars! I was able to clear over a decade of clutter in that short time thanks to Carrie's simple, straight forward methods, and I ended up profiting (literally!) doing so! She was a pleasure to work with and not once did I feel judged for the mess I had made that's now just a memory. Highly recommended!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I do not have a complicated pricing system. I charge $75 per hour for my interior design services, and after our initial consultation I can give you an estimate of the number of hours your project will require. I work independently of any particular retailer so I can source products from virtually anywhere, and I regularly shop at discount stores and secondhand sources for my clients to maximize their budget.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Interior design projects always start with a phone call to make sure my skills and expertise are a good fit with the client's needs. An in-home consultation comes next, and for this I set aside two hours to tour the client's home, learn more about what is working and not working, and take detailed measurements of their space. I freely share any ideas I have for the design at this initial meeting as well. From there, the process varies depending on the client: I may select paint colors, create 3D floor plans, or work up a complete design plan for their space. I create a custom quote for any services requested beyond the initial consultation. Professional organizing projects work differently because I don't need as much background information from my clients to get started. After the initial phone call, we usually jump right in decluttering and rearranging at the first visit!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a graduate of Syracuse University's nationally recognized interior design program, and I keep my skills fresh with continuing education courses each year. To keep on top of trends and developments within the field I read a variety of design and organizing publications, and I am constantly searching for new product sources and ideas that I can share with my clients.
