Hi there! I'm a classically trained opera singer and voice teacher. I have extensive experience in teaching school-aged children to adults for over 10 years. My students have ranged from absolute beginners to undergraduate voice major students, and from elementary school students to adults. My teaching approach emphasizes on developing healthy vocal techniques.
I am doing my Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Stony Brook University, where I graduated with my Master's degree in Voice Performance. I served as a teaching assistant in the music department for 4 years. I also gained my Bachelor's degree with first-class honors from one of the most prestigious music programs in Hong Kong. I'm passionate about music education, and I can teach in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

Michael has been excellent to work with. He is a great teacher and has tons of different techniques to help a beginner-level singer like myself work out the bad habits that I've built up over time. I've really enjoyed working with him and you can really tell this is not his first time teaching singinglessons. I highly recommend Michael if you're trying to learn how to sing

I started to take Michael's singinglessons a month ago, and I'm confident to say that he is an amazing teacher! I was a beginner and I had absolutely zero experience. At first I was nervous, but Micheal was really professional and he taught me many singing techniques, such as singing in head voice/chest voice and mixed voice... Those fundamentals soon became second nature to me and I noticed my voice getting stronger, smoother, and better each day.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Usually, I will spend a few lessons just working on vocal techniques with my students first. We will then start to work on the repertoire according to their interests, levels, and abilities.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I completed my Master of Music degree in voice performance at SUNY Stony Brook recently, and I served as an undergraduate voice faculty in the music department for 4 years. I've been teaching private singing lessons for over 10 years.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started teaching lessons when I was doing my Bachelor's degree at the university. I offered coaching sessions for praise bands and choirs at different churches in Hong Kong. And I also worked as a choir conductor in middle schools and high schools.
