- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I try to identify the student's needs, whether enrichment or remedial. However most important is to put the student at ease. Must have a rapport with one another for meaningful learning to take place.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have NYS teaching licenses in: Math (7-12) Social Studies (7-12) Business (1-12) ESL (as of 4/14) Educationally I have degrees in History, Finance and Secondary Education, including a Masters Degree from an Ivy League University. In addition I have taught several years at the middle school, high school and college levels.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My career was in finance. Typically the mathematician in the department. When it was time to change careers, I became a NYS certified teacher and taught for several years, typically in NYC. Now I fill my time tutoring students in a variety of subjects, most notably pre algebra, algebra, geometry, U.S.history and English. I also assist students in their preparation for both the GED and military entrance exams. As of this date, I have 13 clients who attend both private and public schools in lower Westchester.
