FAQs
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Get references. A good contractor will have a long list of satisfied customers. If they don't, there's a problem. Ask for photos of recent jobs they have completed. My father is somewhat old school. He has a very thick photo album of his completed jobs. I have a company Facebook page. That indicates a degree of pride and craftsmanship. Hacks don't take pictures or want you talking to previous customers.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
When clients see the labor portion of an estimate or invoice, and think we are charging too much, or making huge profits, I wish they had a better understanding of costs. That labor amount is not what we profit. Our profit is after all other expenses are paid.Tools are expensive. Mobilizing equipment is very expensive. My pickup towing a 7000 lb enclosed trailer full of tools and material gets about 8mpg. Liability Insurance in New York is very expensive. Our costs to stay in business add up quickly.
