I hired Don on three separate occasions during 2014 and plan on hiring him in 2015 to do needed work around our home, which is located in East Amherst.
I find Don to be communicative with the customer, a professional and passionate in his work to ensure the work is of top quality and reasonably priced. Don's estimates of the work to be performed were accurate and complete. All changes to the scope of the work were primarily at my request, were thoroughly discussed with me and approved by me before work began. The work was finished in the time frame we agreed to up front. For substantially all of the work on these projects Don had a staff of two or three working with him. The staff was professional, just like Don, were very hard workers and pleasant to my wife and I.
The first project was in our kitchen where a portion of the ceramic tile floor needed replaced, a new backsplash around the stove was installed and a sliding glass door between the kitchen and sun room was removed and replaced with a new door frame, which was stained and sealed. Don committed to a start date and an end date and he met those dates. This project was completed within a week. The work was of top quality. We wanted a border installed around the section of the kitchen floor being replaced and Don took his time to make sure it fit without excessive cuts to the border. This to me is a sign of his passion.
The second project I hired Don to complete was to replace a 384 square foot treated wood deck. Don clearly explained to me up front that he could only quote on the surface of the deck and wouldn't know if the supports under the surface needed replaced until he and his team pulled off the old deck floor. Fortunately the supports were in good condition and this project was completed on time and in accordance with the estimate he provided. Don estimated the new deck would take three to four days and his estimate was met. Don hauled away all of the old deck and cleaned any and all debris. Again, Don was very communicative throughout this project making sure I knew when he was going to start and when he was going to complete. Don came back approximately six weeks later to stain this deck. He communicated up front when he would be on site and how long it would take and he met his timeframe. I had Don put two coats of stain which he did. The first day of staining he spent about a half day then left so the stain could properly dry then came back the next morning to put on the second coat of stain. This deck was done professionally and his work is excellent.
The third project was a 360 square foot deck that I hired Don to replace. We had the same conversation when Don delivered the estimate that he can only estimate what he can see and wouldn't know if the supports under the deck floor needed replaced until he removed the old floor. The supports under this deck did in fact need replaced. Within a day I was provided a revised estimate to remove and replace all of the supports and at that time Don explained to me the timing to finish this deck. This deck was estimated to take six or seven days to complete and again Don met his schedule. Don completed this deck with the same level of professionalism and perfection that he did the first deck and kitchen work. We also agreed in advance to the revised work and timing of completing the work and he did the work in the time frame communicated to me. He came back several weeks later and stained this deck. Again, I am completely satisfied with the understanding Don had when he put the estimates together, the quality of the craftsmanship, the professionalism of he and his team as well as their meeting the goals in terms of timing we agreed to up front.
I have recommended Don to our friends and family and would not hesitate to recommend Don to anyone. Also, I have already spoken to Don about additional work we would like to have completed on our home during 2015.
