FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I typically charge an hourly rate for my design services which includes meetings, site visits, negotiations, shopping, design time, and for construction documents. Any purchases made are at cost plus percent to my clients. Clients receive all my trade discounts for all items I purchase for the project plus a fee that is a percentage of the items purchased. Lastly I invoice for reimbursable items which include copies, prints, travel expenses, and samples for example.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I will conduct an in depth review of your needs, determine job requirements, develop a work schedule, and create a budget. During this time we'll need to develop a conceptual architectural design with client and architect. I will determine the use of the existing furniture, analyze the functionality of space, and take all necessary measurements. The next step will be to develop a strategic design concept including color palette, aesthetic finishes and materials, select appliances and fixtures, provide a detailed finish schedule, and select everything for the space from floor to ceiling. Next I’ll create the construction documents including a space plan, furniture layout, and detailed floor plans for each specific trade. Drawings may include elevations of all designed spaces, lighting plans, perspective renderings, tile drawings and specifications, as well as sketches or other visuals to further your understanding of the overall vision and design. I will purchase all materials on your behalf, coordinate and procure approved items, consult with trades and assist with negotiations and estimating. During installation I will conduct job site visits and oversee the project to ensure the design is being properly carried out.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied interior design at the New York School of Interior Design located on the upper East Side and received my BID Certificate.
