We learn warm ups, vocal technique, and sing pop songs we love. Students don’t just learn to sing, they learn to perform! MUSICIAN SPARK WORKSHOP Each week we learn a new pop, rock or Disney song. Students can even pick the song! We learn chords, scales and strumming, scaled to their level and instrument. Students will gain the fundementals of playing with others in time! Let’s start a band! SONGWRITER SPARK WORKSHOP Students learn the art of writing lyrics and music, play songwriting games, and collaborate on exciting projects. Since we periodically use recording and video tools to capture the fun, students can also learn music and video production skills! SONG SPARK CHALLENGE Need 1 on 1 feedback? You got it! Get video challenge lessons that follow a progression path in guitar, ukulele, bass or singing. When they send in a short video completing the challenge, and they get a video message back with feedback and encouragement, and COINS! FIRST FRIDAY OPEN MIC Monthly open mics are fun and laid back. ABOUT THE TEACHER: My name is Rebecca Mackin, but you can call me Beck. There is nothing like the power of music to connect and inspire us! I’m so excited to share this community for students to create music in a safe and positive space. I’ve been teaching private lessons in guitar, ukulele, harp and voice since 2014, many of those years at Guitar Center and Music & Arts, and studied voice at Berklee. I have taught all online since 2020, (so I never need to move a student’s hand for them to find a guitar chord haha.) Teaching is my passion and I believe we all learn better with fun, humor and simplicity. So many of my best musical memories are writing songs or jamming with friends, or performing with a band. Often I found my 1 on 1 students never had the opportunity to do these things. I had never heard of thumbtack; just stumbled across it in a desperate search to find someone to continue lessons after we moved out of state. I messaged a few different people, and am so thankful that we found Rebecca. I was hesitant with the idea of online guitar lessons, but now I can’t say enough good about them with her! My 8 year old daughter is learning to LOVE music. She has picked up on Rebecca’s technique easily, and looks forward to their FaceTime call each week. Rebecca is great about keeping me in the loop- she sends chords and things for my girl to practice, texts to confirm lessons each week, and fills me in on her progress. Her enthusiasm and love for teaching is so genuine. She is a gem!

He worked with my 12 year old daughter who has very bad stage frieght. She made her so comfortable. After only 30 minutes she was able to sing on front of her. She can't wait until her next session

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Membership is $240 a month. That includes personal lessons, access to unlimited workshops, and earning coins for quests in the Song Spark app. Much like a gym membership, you can go when it fits your schedule.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
New students are welcome to attend a free workshop to see if it's a good fit for them.
