Absolutely perfect—that sums up our experience with Scott. We hired Scott to entertain our 40 guests at our annual holiday party in our home in Tribeca, and his skills, background and music blew away the other vendors who submitted quotes. Not only is he a wonderfully talented pianist, he is a composer, arranger and teacher. As such, he brings unparalleled skills in creating the perfect musical backdrop to any function…and our holiday soiree was no exception. Warm and welcoming in person and via email, he is professional, pleasant and aims to please. My wife & I asked Scott to prepare a set list filled with sounds of the season—and Scott prepared and performed an endless array of wonderful holiday classics infused with touches of jazz…providing the ideal mood for conversation, laughter and enjoyment. We will most certainly be booking Scott again for our private and corporate events moving forward, and strongly urge anyone looking for a fantastically talented pianist to hire him for any type of gathering, large or small.Dec 29, 2017Verified
Thanks to Scott Arcangel and band for creating what was a truly memorable wedding day cocktail hour. From my very first converasation with Scott, he was nothing but professional, responsive and accommodating. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, considering most of wedding planning is wrought with stress. Booking our cocktail hour entertainment was a seamless experience because of Scott's professionalism and obvious musical talent. On wedding day Scott and his team arrived on time and put on a great performance, which many of our guests raved about. Thank you Scott and team for creating an incredibly memorable cocktail hour experience - we will make sure to highly recommend you to any friends or family looking for entertainment for their own event!Jun 8, 2017

Hired one of the members,Mikhail, for a funeral and gave them music the day before . He wasn’t too familiar with a catholic mass but you would never ever know. He played beautifully and improvised wherever he needed too . Mikhail did an excellent job and I will definitely be hiring him for future ceremoniesJan 13, 2020VerifiedThe Music Boutique's reply
Thank you Lauren! I'm glad our colleague could play for you, and that we could make it work out at the last minute! It was a pleasure to coordinate everything with you - feel free to reach out anytime! Scott
We were throwing a 50th Anniversary party for my folks and we thought live music would be fun. Not knowing where to start I googled and found Scott on Thumbtack, and I am very glad I did. After Scott took the time to understand our event and the people who would be attending he made a recommendation of a great musician named John Gioia. It was the perfect fit. The party was a great success. Scott made this aspect of our party very easy. If you need live music for an event I highly recommend talking with Scott.Sep 14, 2019Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My objectives are simple: - Make sure we are a good musical fit for the client - Find an ensemble that fits the client's budget - Pay the musicians that are working for me at a rate that reflects the level of professionalism that I expect from them Because of my large musical network of professionals - I typically will have a number of different options for a request. These will include different size groups at different prices. This allows me the flexibility to find a group that fits my client's musical preferences at a price that fits their budget. I will not always be the lowest bidder. I respect the professionals I work with enough to pay them well for what they are able to do. In return, I have a wide network of the top professionals in the area who enjoy playing for my clients!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? The most important thing for me, is to make sure the client trusts that the music we provide will be perfect for their vision of the event - and that we'll perform in the most professional manner from the moment we arrive. Once we've reached that comfort level, the rest falls into place easily. We discuss the event - how the client wants it to look, to sound, to feel - and come up with the best musical group that fits their vision and their budget. We then put the details in a written agreement - typically with a small deposit that secures the date in our schedule.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?In terms of education, I have a bachelor's degree in music education (as a classical saxophonist) and a master's degree in jazz arranging (as a pianist). I'm a member of a number of organizations for music professionals and music educators. I've been selected to present clinics to my professional colleagues at national conferences almost annually. In terms of experience, I have been professionally leading all types of ensembles for over 20 years - from small ensembles up through full big bands. That translates to a comfort level on all kinds of events - from intimate performances for small audiences, to large-scale events at performing arts centers and stadiums, as well as radio and television broadcasts. My process is professional and organized, as I typically manage over 100 events with 45-60 musicians per year.
