Introduction: I tailor my act to the needs of the client. I don't perform the same things the same way for all occasions, with special material better suited to cocktail parties, or black tie events, or more recently, a project I'm working on for Google's "Assistant" app. My magic can fill spaces from small back rooms in nightclubs to full theaters. While I perform everything from card magic to mind-reading, what I really call my specialty is using magic to make events more enjoyable. You want to hire a magician for your private event because magic makes parties more fun. Any magician can do tricks at a party. I know as much about how parties work as I do about card magic and mind-reading. Just as I spent years perfecting my craft as a magician, I spent just as much time reading about how parties work and listening to event planners so I can make their lives easier. I am acutely sensitive to the social dynamics where I perform. I will match any dress code, but still stand out so your guests know I'm there to entertain them, without letting them think I'm a waiter. I help your guests to socialize and have a good time. I keep them from noticing when the kitchen is behind or the bar runs out of vodka. I'll do something special for your VIPs, guests with disabilities or impairments that mean they may not appreciate magic as others do, and I can even handle inebriated guests while you call them a cab. Everything I do is aimed at helping your guests to have a good time, whether that means inviting some people away from an over-crowded bar, or distracting a drunk guest who is hitting on your hired help, or introducing wallflowers with an icebreaker they will never forget. I'm not a budget magician, but I can assure you that if you hire me, you will get what you pay for.

Mark was truly an amazing magician. I’m still holding the quarter that I bent with my own hand! All my guests talked about how great he was. Really makes your party extra special!

Mark did a great job. He read the room very well and provided exactly what we were looking for in terms of a low pressure but highly entertaining performance. Our friends will be talking about his illusions for weeks.

Mark did a walk around magic show for our Purim party, he interacted well with the crowd & amazed even the most skeptical amongst them. He was a pleasure to deal with and was able to work with our budget. I would definitely work with him in the future.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

It really depends on the job. If I'm just performing for an hour in a cocktail party in New York, so no travel is involved, it'd be $500 for the hour. If I had to travel I'd have to consider how far (I've had to cross the Atlantic for gigs) and how long I'd be needed to perform. Then, I'd need to take the means of my client into account. If I were travelling far enough, I'd probably negotiate a package by which my client would be incentivized to use me for longer than an hour or two, just so they could get more value from hiring me.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I'm constantly reading both new material and the classics, I meet with two groups of magicians each week to trade ideas and secrets, I attend lectures and conventions, and I'm always rereading the classics.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

My father is an amateur magician, and when I was in my early twenties I was in Europe, and found that performing magic got me free drinks, free meals, and useful contacts. Soon thereafter, I began doing it for money.
