I graduated from Dickinson College with degrees in Biological Anthropology and Health Studies. I've studied biomechanics, nutrition, and physiology at The University of Queensland, and I was previously a member of the Northeastern University Sports Performance team. I’m a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA, USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach, Precision Nutrition Coach, and self-defense coach. My specialties are postural restoration, skill acquisition, rehabilitation, Olympic Weightlifting, and body composition.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Effective coaching - be it physical, emotional, financial - should represent one’s best understanding of how to create lasting change. When I see personal trainers acting like drill sergeants at every session, I see an imperfect understanding of how permanent change really happens. Eh, it’s probably too much intensity. Even boot camp is temporary. Conversely, when I see personal trainers treating their clients like fine china, I see fear or a lack of confidence in their ability to change someone. Eh, it’s probably *not enough* intensity. Nuance and subtlety are rare artifacts these days, especially on the internet. In a minefield of clickbait and gurus and divisiveness, focus on nailing the basics every single day. This is how real change occurs: slowly, habitually, without intensity, sans montage music. Your low hanging fruit - sleep, moving, eating, socializing - will get you 95% of the results you’re searching for without any fat burners, double-secret exercises, or getting screamed to do more burpees at by some hardass in a tight shirt. #OneMoreRep!!!!!!!!! Change comes from within. My job is to show you that.
