Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Hello everyone! My name is Annie Huang. I am an adjunct piano instructor at New York University, teaching private lessons and keyboard skills. Meanwhile, I am pursuing a dual degree of Piano Performance and Pedagogy there. Prior to NYU, I taught as a secondary piano teacher at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where I gained my bachelor degree. I enjoy teaching students in all levels, from zero experience to the advanced with Chopin, Ravel, etc. Sometimes I also teach the playing in pop songs and film music, you name it! My principle is to ignite the inner passion of music and connect it to your unique personality. Everybody has a different style and pace; I observe each student's features and adjust my methods accordingly so that students can improve their music proficiency and understanding in a very natural way.

Piano Lessons

Annie is a very friendly and dedicated piano instructor. She is totally adaptable to your interests and, despite having our lessons online, she has the keen ability to pinpoint the areas of your playing that require improvement. Moreover, her vast amount of experience and numerous qualifications were clearly demonstrated through the advice and explanations she provided. Not to mention, she is able to expressively play unfamiliar pieces with great ease and then immediately teach me the proper techniques and fingerings! No matter what your level of playing is, I highly recommend lessons with Annie, as you won’t see progress faster elsewhere!

Piano Lessons

Annie brings a level of passion to her lessons that make learning piano and music a fun, educational experience. Through this passion, she brings knowledge beyond the book to our lessons that have helped me, a beginner, start to see music as a colorful and three-dimensional field of creativity, truly a professional! As I learn more with her, I get more excited about the piano each week and get increasingly motivated to practice. Annie's professionalism and punctuality create a consistent and structured learning environment, which is perfect for anyone needing an orderly learning schedule. In all, Annie is a kind, passionate teacher, who infuses her own knowledge into her lessons, making them unique to her style. In the short time I've been taking lessons from her, Annie's helped me not just with my piano technique, but develop a new love for music, I'm excited to keep taking lessons from her and I highly recommend!!

I had piano lessons for a semester, and it was definitely one of the best courses I took in NYU. She has a unique ability to make piano easy and enjoyable.

I’ve been lucky enough to start taking lessons from Annie as an adult student. I had lessons as a child but had not touched a piano in ages... learning from her has been such a rewarding experience! Her ability to explain material is so natural, she is always able to demonstrate and answer any questions I may have. I genuinely feel inspired to practice after our lessons. She is also always on time and available to email or text me if I’m having trouble throughout the week. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher!

Annie was an excellent teacher who was determined to improve my piano skills. She was very patient and had ton a knowledge about piano techniques that helped make her an excellent teacher. If I was to take piano lessons again I would definitely chose to take them with Annie again.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Before getting started, we can talk a bit about whether you have previous experience on a piano, which pieces you have played before (if applicable), and which time works for you best. Then we will arrange the time and material accordingly so that we can work together in a comfortable way.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Currently, I am an adjunct faculty of piano studies at New York University. I have also taught at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where I gained my bachelor degree and learned piano pedagogy with Andrea McAlister.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started playing piano at the age of five! Then I find myself love musical communication with others, typically teaching and accompanying.
