Introduction: I am a highly experienced, energetic and innovative violin and viola instructor for children and adults of all ages and abilities. I most recently had a private studio of over 45 students in Potomac, MD and now have an uptown Manhattan studio across from the historic Morris-Jumel Mansion.
I travel to locations in Brooklyn, the West Village, the Upper East Side and Millburn, NJ and am convenient to the Bronx and Queens. I also teach beginning piano and cello and coach chamber music groups. I am a flexible performer whose repertoire includes jazz and big band standards, Irish and folk fiddle and classical and Baroque violin and viola. I am a lead violin in a big band based in Washington, D.C. (Doc Scantlin and His Imperial Palms Orchestra), and through the Sylvan Consort, provide solo music and ensembles for weddings, receptions, parties, and all occasions in the New York, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. metropolitan areas.

We hired Kathy to provide music at an office dinner party and we couldn't be happier with her performance. Kathy was punctual, professional, and very accommodating. In addition to being responsive to communication before the event, she was also very friendly and responsive at the event. Excellent violinist. No amateur. Played all of me by John legend and thinking out loud by Ed Sheeran at my wedding. She was early getting to the venue in a snow storm. Did not pressure me about payment. Will definitely use her again for any other events.
