Caitlin is a phenomenal singer and teacher. I have no experience singing at all, and it was nerve-wracking to do a lesson for the first time. Caitlin made me feel very at ease and like I can actually sing! We went over basic techniques and she explained theories behind singing very well, before moving on to actually singing songs with the techniques all in one lesson. Highly recommend!Mar 29, 2020Verified
I scheduled a lesson for my girlfriend, who has talked about singing lessons in the past but never done it. She and Caitlin clicked, and my girlfriend is going to do another lesson with her. I think Caitlin was a really good value compared to other singing teachers I checked out. Her price was good, and girlfriend said she was an amazing teacher—that’s why I recommend Caitlin for anyone in a similar situation.Apr 5, 2020
I love music and I have no idea about its techniques (not a musician myself) and was always reluctant to sing in front of other people. Caitlin did an amazing job to boost my confidence and in only three lessons now I am confident for this karaoke event with colleagues and ready to sing two songs (the least)! She’s very nice, very efficient and flexible with her working hours; very important for my weird schedules. Totally recommending her for fun and productive singing lessonsApr 6, 2018
Caitlin is a fantastic voice teacher! Our daughter (8) loves learning from Caitlin. She brings a terrific energy to lessons and makes the hour fun. She is organized and always punctual. I highly recommend Caitlin for anyone interested!Jan 31, 2020VerifiedCaitlin McKechney - Voice Teacher!'s reply

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I like to charge just $50/hr so that my students can come weekly! Shorter lessons are pro-rated. There is sometimes an additional fee for studio rental, if the student prefers to have our lesson at one of the midtown studios I often teach out of (Michiko studio on 46th is my regular place!). I am also able to travel to your home for a travel fee based on distance. If we use my home studio, there's no additional fee!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I usually ask them to bring in one song they love and would like to sing.... Through that I can asses their level and needs and we go from there! I use warm ups and exercises individualized to each individual.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I received my Bachelor of Music in opera and musical theater from Northwestern University. I also have a Masters degree from Chicago College of Performing Arts and have completed apprenticeships with Nashville Opera, Florida Grand Opera and Sarasota Opera.
