I love music and I have no idea about its techniques (not a musician myself) and was always reluctant to sing in front of other people. Caitlin did an amazing job to boost my confidence and in only three lessons now I am confident for this karaoke event with colleagues and ready to sing two songs (the least)! She’s very nice, very efficient and flexible with her working hours; very important for my weird schedules. Totally recommending her for fun and productive singing lessonsApr 6, 2018
She is excellent at sharing her knowledge, and helping me learn and move forward with my career.Aug 23, 2018Verified
Caitlin is an amazing teacher and singer. She understands how the voice works and how to work with students to get their best possible sound - and she’s so much fun!Jan 29, 2019
Caitlin was able to share her knowledge as a working professional to make me more marketable as a dancer/singer/actress!Jul 31, 2018
I am a professional musical theatre dancer who always needs to be working on my voice in preparation for upcoming auditions. I have worked with many voice teachers in NYC, as well as in different places I have been for contracts. Caitlin has been one of my favorites so far because of how encouraging she was. I really felt like I got a lot out of our sessions, not only in terms of vocal technique, but also in confidence. She worked on my comfort with my belt and when I should use it in my songs (I tend to mix everything). I'm so glad we found each other. She is great and such a joy to work with!Aug 9, 2018
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I like to charge just $50/hr so that my students can come weekly! Shorter lessons are pro-rated. There is sometimes an additional fee for studio rental, if the student prefers to have our lesson at one of the midtown studios I often teach out of (Michiko studio on 46th is my regular place!). I am also able to travel to your home for a travel fee based on distance. If we use my home studio, there's no additional fee!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I usually ask them to bring in one song they love and would like to sing.... Through that I can asses their level and needs and we go from there! I use warm ups and exercises individualized to each individual.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I received my Bachelor of Music in opera and musical theater from Northwestern University. I also have a Masters degree from Chicago College of Performing Arts and have completed apprenticeships with Nashville Opera, Florida Grand Opera and Sarasota Opera.
