What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I travel to New York City every year for classes that keep me updated and consistently fine tune my skills. I try to list all my classes on LinkedIn. I really believe that once you think you know it all - your skill level goes down and your work becomes dated.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
My products, materials, insurance, time and marketing all get factored into my prices. If I have to pay the site to reach out to a client, that's factored into it as well.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I played with my moms makeup as a toddler. I loved dance recitals because I got to wear lipstick and blush. As soon as my mom let me wear foundation I never looked back. I have always had a passion for makeup. I did friends makeup for theater and prom. I watched YouTube videos for inspiration and then I finally went to school for my makeup certification and have been doing weddings and events ever since.
What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common type of jobs I get are weddings, photo shoots, prom, and parties.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
No two artists are the same! In, technique, product, and attitude we all vary. All of these should be taken into consideration when booking a vendor in general, but especially for makeup.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Do their portfolio pictures match my esthetic? Do I want to be highlighted or transformed? If I have allergies or sensitivities can this artist accommodate my needs?
