I recently used Kevin McMullen to install crown molding throughout our first floor. He was prompt when responding to my inquiry and easy to communicate with. He arrived promptly for the estimate and even provided some very good feedback on the type of material to use, and size. His estimate was spot on and completed the work slightly ahead of plan. Kevin and I picked up the material together, which I would recommend others do, and he was able to guide me through the necessary material and what was best to work with. Our crown molding looks great and he cleaned up after himself leaving no mess behind. He was even great with my daughter who manged to get in the way every 20 minutes.

Kevin provided excellent service and professionalism when tiling my kitchen backsplash. The work wasn't rushed and looks phenomenal. I am extremely pleased with the outcome. I plan on hiring Kevin for future home renovations.

Kevin built a custom retaining wall in my backyard that is phenomenal - He is an honest, reliable and courteous person and his work is excpetional. He has also done my kitchen cabinets, tiled 2 bathrooms, and many other projects. We would not use anyone else!

Kevin was very professional at the initial meeting and at the time of services rendered. He explained everything he did, and than did them. He had a clean work ethic. He layed down tarps in every work area. He is reasonably priced, and I would definitely rehire Kevin for future projects regardless the size. Thank You.

Kevin was very nice to work over email and we made a plan for him to arrive at the house and fix a kitchen drawer slider which would not fully close (perhaps replace it) for $75.00. He arrived promptly, looked at the drawer, and proceeded to shut the drawer, using force, something I was reluctant to do for fear of further damaging the mechanism. Total time of this work was 1 second. I asked if he was going to charge me the full $75 for his one second of work, and he replied, yes, full charge. I didn't think this was very fair, certainly not karmic, or gracious, but I didn't push back or say anything because the "jam the drawer" trick worked. I wrote the check, and he was gone. I can make no observation on his work, or clean-up because he did not do anything except force the drawer closed. The only reason I'm writing this review at all is because I am very tired of getting relentless reminders from Thumbtack to do so. Otherwise, I would not have recounted my experience with McMullen & Co.

You can't get any type of "experienced" repair person to come to your house without charging a fee just to show up - I do take exception to it took 1 second and it was something you were not willing to do. I am sorry you feel "cheated" but you can't expect a repair person to come to your house for an agreed price and then you decide it wasn't worth it although your issue was resolved. Again, I am sorry you feel this way. I have always had excellent customer reviews and relationships with customers that last many, many years. I learned a long time ago that you can't make everyone happy.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to meet in person and very seldom will I give a quote over the phone. Once we meet and decide on the plan and cost, I will present the customer with a written estimate outlining the job in detail. I request a downpayment to start and we begin!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently installed a kitchen backsplash for a neighbor who I have worked for before. She is an extremely meticulous person and her house is like a showroom. She decided to replace her brick backsplash with custom, intricate GLASS tiles. To it was challenging is an understatement as each piece had to be carefully cut and crafted around the outlets, countertop, etc. I took my time and it came out absolutely perfect. My customer was thrilled and that is what is important!
