I'm a classically trained flutist with a BFA in Music Performance. I have performed with the Brooklyn Wind Symphony, The Chelsea Symphony and Utopia Opera, among many other ensembles. I have over 10 years of experience teaching flute to students of all ages & levels as well as teaching beginner piano. Each lesson is personalized to my students learning style, goals, and curiosities!
I have always loved to teach and what makes teaching private music lessons even greater is being able to place my focus on one student and their needs. I like to make sure that my students understand the material before moving on as well as making sure that the material is something that keeps them interested and motivated.

If you know anything about 3 year olds you know it's not easy to get their attention or have them sit still or entertained with anything for longer than probably 5 min. Kelly was so patient with my 3 year old, she has the gift to get anyone's attention including 3 year olds. In less than a week my daughter already knew how to play a short song on the Piano and she was so excited about it, it's all she would talk about and it had her complete and undivided attention. Kelly is amazing, humble, patient and has a unique gift teaching. She makes anything seem easy to learn. I can't wait to move back so she can continue to work with my child. She's so awesome!!!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rates are affordable and based on the length of the lesson. The first hour lesson is half the usual rate!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new student, I like to start by talking about what made them interested in learning an instrument, what they would like to get out of the lessons and what they would like to learn to play. This helps to craft the lesson around the students interest and makes for more enjoyable lessons.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA in Classical Music Performance in Flute and have taught private flute and piano lessons for over six years. Aside from private lessons, I have taught group music lessons for non-profit organizations as well as after school programs in NYC.
