Luke was a colleague of mine at The Eastman School of Music. Eastman is one of the elite music schools in the world, and in our time at school Luke was one of the most sought after musicians for every gig and creative opportunity. Luke puts 100% of himself into everything that he does. Not only is he one of the most talented young saxophonist/composers today (yes, really), but he cares deeply about the history and legacy of music. Both of these characteristics make him the ideal performer/educator. In working with Luke, one is guaranteed a high level of professionalism, communication and care.Feb 26, 2020
Luke is a world-class player and teacher. He is a woodwind expert and has spent hours upon hours discovering the details of tone production, technique, equipment, improvisation, and composition. Luke has perpetual curiosity and openness as a teacher. He has precisely the right tools and experience to support his students, and he has a marvelous performing career to inform his pedagogy. Aside from this, he is a wonderful person and cares about student success. This will be the highest-value lesson you can experience anywhere.May 11, 2020
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? The first lesson is a diagnostic lesson. Where is the student at, what do they want to learn, what skill sets can I provide to them, what skill sets need work, etc. From there, I plan each weekly lesson with specific goals and exercises to meet each student’s needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I completed my masters degree at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, a one-year tuition free masters program comprised of 20 hand selected students from across the world. I also completed my undergraduate degree at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. I studied saxophone, clarinet and flute there. I have performance experience in classical, jazz and popular/world music.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I was inspired to teach by having great teachers in my life. They helped me become a confident and creative human being, and I aspire to pass this on to each of my students.
