Kim is a wonderful teacher for adults and children. She's always on time, creative, and very patient. If you want to learn how to sew, she is the perfect teacher. She is very talented and has lots of great ideas!Jun 5, 2017
Had my first lesson with Kim a few weeks ago. She's very detailed oriented, has a wealth of knowledge and is very personable. She even sent me followup instructions after the lesson so I could finish my project. I've already booked more lessons to learn how to get a shirt to fit.Mar 12, 2017Verified

Kim did a fantastic job teaching my daughter to sew. She saw it through beginning to end. I am extremely pleased with her service. Thank you.Aug 18, 2013Verified
I was looking for someone who could teach both myself and my 10 year old daughter how to use our new sewing machine. Kim was great from the initial email up to our 1st lesson. Kim was patient and understanding in setting up our lesson time, due to some scheduling snags. She was flexible in her schedule, arrived on time, and was a very intuitive teacher. I felt like, she understood what type of learners we were from the beginning, and by the time she left, we felt comfortable in the basics of sewing. Kim has a superior knowledge of sewing, and has experience with all types of machines. She taught us a lot of tips and tricks that will help us remember what we learned. She was pleasant, nice to talk with and ridiculously inexpensive. You cannot beat her price for a private lesson! We already scheduled our second lesson with Kim. I highly recommend her as a teacher.Feb 20, 2017Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I do not offer in-person lessons shorter than 90 minutes. If you would like a shorter lesson, ask me about live online video chat lessons. I charge by the hour, not by the person. If you would like to share your lesson, you can split the cost with friends. You can also create your own class by suggesting a topic and recruiting students. My lessons are reasonably priced so I do not offer discounts. There is no materials fee because you are expected to provide all your own tools and materials. I will gladly advise you on what you need.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? After we make contact, we will discuss your goals and project interests. We will make sure you have all the tools and materials you need to get started. Then we will set up a date, time and location.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?As a professional crafter, I have over 11 years teaching experience and over 40 years crafting experience. I am a CYC certified instructor and a published knit and crochet designer. You can see some of my published work on my designer page on Ravelry.com. My MA from FIT is in Museum Costume and Textile History and Conservation.
