How does your service stand out?

On the print side, I design print pieces that not only look good, but are properly built and efficient for the printer, saving my clients time and money by not having unexpected extra cost added to the job. On the web side, I provide unique ideas, very personal service and fast turnaround.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

Creating something new. Especially when the client is as thrilled as I am about a design that I created! That is my favorite thing.

Creative Designs & Wonderful Customer Service
SillyCar Design was a wonderful company to work with for our logo creation. They designed a beautiful logo for our law firm for an extremely competitive price. Best part was the direct contact with owner/designer. His designs were great and the customer service was top notch. We look forward to working with SillyCar Design again in the future and highly recommend!

Joel from SillyCar did a great job. I needed new promotional flyers for my business. He did the design, gave excellent advice about how to make it informative and eye-catching, and even fulfilled my request to make it environmentally friendly. He cheerfully made changes and additions, and had everything printed on time. Beautiful job!

SillyCar Design produced the coolest business cards for my eco-friendly lawn service! Joel has genuine creative flair, and he provided the cards in a prompt and exceedingly courteous manner. I know exactly whom I'll call when I need more: SillyCar Design.

Joel Designed our website (communityemergencycorps.org) using our specs and adding some great ideas of his own to enhance the product. He was always available to answer questions, helped us set up our Paypal donation area, and has provided ongoing support, as needed, in a professional and expedient manner. Never talked "over our heads" and continues to be very supportive.

Q&A

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly training through online courses to keep myself sharp and able to adapt to the ever changing internet and its standards. I love to learn new things and apply them to my work!
How did you get started doing this type of work?
After studying Computer Science in college, I realized that I could not be a programmer for a living. There is a lot of creativity to be expressed in programming, but it is very frustrating. I purchased a Macintosh computer when I was a junior in college and just really enjoyed creating things graphically with it. By the time I was finished with my Computer Science degree, I knew what I wanted to do. The programming background combined with my now many years of experience working in commercial printing has also given me an edge over other designers because I understand the technical ins and outs of the hardware, operating systems and software that are essential tools of this trade.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You have tons of choices when hiring a graphic designer. There are so many of them out there. Many are very good designers and some are good at many things. I am good at many things and can provide a lot more services than most graphic designers (I can provide web and print design, print brokering with great pricing because of my connections with printers, custom print items like outdoor signage, floor graphics, magnets, stickers, custom labels etc., every door direct mailing services, and more). A one stop shop could be better for many people and that is something to consider when hiring a provider like me. My advice is to look at the designers portfolio, then if you like their work, check their reviews and contact some of their past clients to see what they have to say about how they are to work with and go from there.
