FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Flat-rate monthly tuition during the school year. $320/month for hour lessons ($80/lesson), $260/month for 45 minute lessons ($65/lesson), $200/month for 30 minute lessons ($50/lesson)
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to know my students’ names, ages, how many years they have been playing, what the last piece(s) they worked on, if they did NYSSMA or other festivals, if they previously took lessons, etc. so that I have an idea of their level of playing. Since scheduling can be complex, I teach on a regular weekly schedule based on the school year (Summer term separate), planning ahead for weeks with no lessons. The first lesson, I typically offer a variety of books for solo playing, sight reading practice, and scales or etudes (depending on the age). We work together to determine a good starting piece and technique regimen so that we can learn each others’ habits and long term goal.
