Ali Cushing Photography

My name is Ali Cushing, a New York-based artist and photographer, and I am submitting myself for your consideration for your photography project. I have a near-life-long background in self-taught photography, illustration and graphic design that has been put to use professionally in promotional elements in the music industry and literary publications both for traditional print and digital publishing. Projects I have worked on include weddings and proposals, NYC location shots, influencer fashion shoots, fine art gallery in-house photography, food photography for restaurant’s online menus and social media, real estate photography, shot composition storyboarding and concept art for short films, commercials, comic books, literary books and video games. I am skilled in composing scenes that direct the audience's attention in aesthetic and strategic ways whether it’s conveying a feeling, a narrative, promoting a product, or simply capturing a moment and an experience. All the while creating a pleasing shot that serves to advance the desired impact. I have a background in film, have first hand experience observing on set and on location production, and have observed full scale, multi-camera productions both from behind and in front of the camera. I understand shot set ups and how to orient and stage a scene three dimensionally. I have a background in street photography, and a knack for capturing candid moments while remaining unobtrusive. I shoot with a Canon 6D Mark II camera body using a Sigma prime 28mm f/1.8 Art lens and a Canon 70-300mm f/4-5.5 zoom lens, and Tokina 16-28mm f/2.8 Opera lens, and utilize natural lighting or a flash when appropriate.
