Music Lessons by Marianne

Introduction: I am highly trained in my field (all areas of music and music performance), have 30-plus years experience in the business, and believe in learning and playing music at the highest quality level possible. That being said, I also believe in making the process of learning fun, and provide a myriad set of sample exercises for the student-- young or old--to add to the otherwise-perhaps less-digestible nature of daily practice. As a performer and recording session artist, I have 30-plus years experience with top-notch artists and recording studios, and can be found on nearly half the records utilizing oboe and English horn in Nashville during the '80's and '90's. Four CD's currently, all self-produced, featuring both my skills as a writer as well as playing guitar, slide, oboe, flute, English horn, recorder, and piano, along with vocals. I love playing and singing, plain and simple. And as a teacher, I love helping people to find their own "muse", through the process of learning a musical instrument. Sometimes the process is easy and their muse readily available. Sometimes it's hidden under a thick mass of preconceived notions and decades of shame from ill-meaning teachers. One thing I have learned is that we, as teachers, make a difference in students' lives, whether good, bad, or ugly.
