My name is Ryan Farnung, owner of Rochester Percussion Studios, and I have been an active drum and percussion instructor in the Rochester area for over 15 years, and an active performer for over 20 years. My experience with a wide range of learners, from absolute beginners to seasoned professionals, has allowed me to develop a goals-based, flexible teaching style focused on the individual. Some of my students have gone on to become full-time professional musicians, and others enjoy the lifelong pursuit of their musical pastime. I am happy to help others meet their goals whatever they may entail.

My son has had a fantastic experience working with Ryan. He played percussion in elementary school and wanted to try jazz band in middle school, which of course required lessons on a drum set. Ryan's calm, positive approach is perfect for my son. He has improved immensely, is much more confident, and received "most improved instrumentalist" at his final jazz band concert this year. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin with a trial lesson to see if we mutually agree that it will be a good fit. From there we select the studio location and timeslot most convenient for the customer.

I have a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from Nazareth College.
