Introduction: I am an experienced 40-year writer and editor who can turn your writing work into something that is readable, entertaining, grammatically correct and sparkling. As a former newspaper writer and editor, and someone who now owned a public relations business for five years, I can make your writing work. I also love digital storytelling, and I'm intimately familiar with online tools like Canva and Adobe Spark, both of which allow me to turn text stories into online photo/text stories (if you have the photos or are OK with stock photos). Finally, I have been advising individuals and non-profits on the use of social media for many years. I have maintained dozens of Facebook/Twitter/Instagram business pages on behalf of clients that have provided the general ideas for those posts. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For writing/editing work: I charge .015 cents per word. For a 5,000 word piece, that would be $75. For long-term social media maintenance work, I charge $40 per hour and log my hours on Freshbooks.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I meet with customers to determine their needs and estimate how many hours the work will take. Some jobs might be ongoing, while others will be for a specific amount of time and specific job. My longer, ongoing jobs will be at a reduced hourly rate.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a public relations professional for 20 years and a daily newspaper journalist for 18 years. BA in journalism, published web writer with work on sites including USAToday Travel, Livestrong and Medium. Have conducted workshops around the country on the use of social media by non-profits. Winner of numerous awards for my writing work, and winner of the National School Public Relations Association Frontrunner Award for my work in the field of social media for schools.
