Nick did a great job on power washing and sealing my deck. He also offers other services like window & gutter cleaning. 👍

First, I want to say that I never post negative reviews. Ever. I just keep to myself. But this review is intended to save others from my experience with Bigcat Building Services.
I posted 2 jobs. A deck refinish and interior painting. Nick came by to review the deck work and provided an estimate. I liked him and his pricing and offered the painting job as well as the deck.
All I asked for was good work, clarity of communication and that commitments be kept. I’m a customer for life of pros that can get the basics right.
Nick agreed we would work on the deck first and on rainy days paint inside.
Upon starting, he communicated that the deck required a little bit more work than he originally estimated and I agreed to pay him his requested additional amount to complete the work. We got started.
He completed a few days work and He committed to dates and then changed them without telling me. He was scheduled to show up and my wife was waiting for him and he No showed. Later said he moved up another client job and after some back and forth, eventually recognized that he should have communicated better. All good I told him. I’m not unreasonable.
We got back on track I thought.
I’ve already demonstrated a willingness to pay more so he was properly compensated. He came by today to keep working and declared that this was more work than he planned, said he couldn’t “eat it”, which I never asked him to do, and said he was done with this project.
No discussion. He could have worked for us everyday at his rates.
I would have easily discussed the need for more money and paid him what he needed.
Instead he’s walked off the job. Will not return calls or texts, and I am left with a half finished deck and no painting done.
So unprofessional. Steer clear of this “pro”. He cannot be trusted.

Bigcat Building Services's reply
This customer said he wanted a temporary fix for a deck they were replacing within a few years. I gave him a product recommendation and an estimate to complete the job. He accepted only to purchase a different product that required a cleaning agent and brightening process that wasn't in the estimate. Nevertheless I proceeded and even did additional repairs that the homeowner had not mentioned. Today we spoke and he said he thought the deck needed power washed again. I thought this was strange but agreed. When I got to the job I found that the homeowner sprayed a stripping agent on the deck and just left it there covering the deck in a white residue. Brian gave me a little speech about what he expects in a contractor and I tried to provide that and more. Let me tell you the expectations go both ways. We are not on this platform to be abused and treated like your employees just because you can leave a bad review like a YELP yuppie. If this gentleman would have went with the product and procedure I recommend his deck would be done. Finally he already said I gave him a good price initially. Just let te contractor do his thing or do it yourself.
