Introduction: I have been a carpenter for 32 years. Most of that time, I have been specializing in remodeling and renovations. The last ten years or so, I have worked extensively for " house flippers" and have expanded my areas of proficiency to include flooring, light electrical, drywall repair, light plumbing, tiling and painting . I have extensive experience in both interior and exterior trim work and because I work mostly alone, can control both the quality of the work performed and the timeliness of the job. I really enjoy the creative process of a renovation or even a simple handyman project and being able to say , "I made that." The satisfaction of knowing I helped solved a problem,or helped make an improvement is very rewarding.

Dan Olsen is a professional and very efficient worker. He was always punctual and finished work in a timely fashion. He built an additional banister for my staircase and brought the existing banister up to code. He installed a new door, balanced the front gate and laundry door, placed a back splash in my kitchen and corrected two leaking sinks. Additionally, he stained the courtyard and patios. Any work that needed to be done, such as hanging a mirror or wall decorations, plastering and painting minor wall imperfections were completed without any problem. I highly recommend Dan without reservation. He put the finishing touches to my townhouse that make it feel like home.

I had one contractor walk out on the end of my house renovation leaving a ton of finish work and another that never showed up again after providing an estimate. I called Dan and he came out to look at the work the same day! Dan shared that his availability would be the next week, but made an accommodation and made time to start on one important area of the work for me the very next day just so that it could be finished in time for a bridal party I was hosting at my home. He was on time, easy to work with and affordable. We have several other items we are working on as a result of our original contractor leaving and will be happy to have Dan working with us to get through them!!

We hired Dan from Sandhill Construction to do some remodeling of the interior and exterior of our home. Specifically, we needed a rear exterior door which had some water damage to the frame and the door itself. Dan responded in a very timely fashion and was very professional when he came to our home to give us our estimate. We had several questions about the job which Dan took the time to answer fully and to our satisfaction. After ordering the door Dan returned to our home, removed and repaired the existing water damage and took the time to show us the extent of the repair. After installing the door Dan again had us inspect the job and ensured we were satisfied. The job was completed to our satisfaction at which time we had Dan give us a second estimate to remove interior walls and windows and install a sliding glass door. Again the estimate was explained fully and to our specific needs. Dan returned to our home and completed the remodel in a short period of time keeping us appraised of his progress. The second job was finished and we were delighted with the results. I would highly recommend Dan as he was the consummate professional at a very affordable rate.

We have hired Dan (Sandhill Craftsman) before and just had to give another positive review! Dan installed 2 patio doors and remodeled our entire bathroom. Installed porcelain floors, vanity, toilet, and turned out beautiful! Very professional, punctual, and reasonable prices!

Dan Olsen of Sandhill Craftsman is an excellent carpenter with decades of experience and a broad skill set. He always arrives in the morning on time. He installed a shiplap ceiling in our living room, hallway, kitchen and bathroom. We are delighted with the result. I will aways look to Sandhill Craftsman for all of our remodeling and repair needs.

every job is different. that's why I ask to see things first.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Normally, I like to meet with a potential client and hear their ideas and plans for each project. That way, I can get a decent feel for what the project entails and I can give a more informed and accurate estimate instead of a ballpark figure.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked extensively in the carpentry trade,as a framer, a union carpenter doing light commercial work and as a remodeler. I took classes in woodworking, furniture making, and engineering. I have been a licensed general contractor in both Ohio and Georgia before moving to Florida. I have since returned to Ohio
