I contacted this company to fix my lawn mower after it started malfunctioning while I was cutting my lawn. I asked about service fees upfront and was only told that he would not charge anything if he couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it. He asked me to bring the lawn mower to the shop and I agreed. I then asked him if he also cut grass so my lawn could be cut in the meantime. He said yes and offered to come to my home because he was out cutting already and not far away. When he arrived, I asked him about fees to cut the yard. He avoided the question. While I was taking the lawn mower out the car (I was planning on taking it to his shop originally) he went to cut approximately half of my back yard. When he was done he loaded the lawn mower into his trailer. I asked him again what we owed him to finish the grass and he said he would figure it out and invoice me all at the same time. The next day he contacted me and said he fixed the lawn mower and was going to drop it off and sent an invoice. I responded about my concerns about an invoice. I asked him 3 times about fees and received no answer. I particularly wanted clarification on why he was charging a pick up and delivery fee that was not disclosed any of the 3 times I asked about fees. He also chose not to disclose this fee when he offered to come to my home to pick up the lawn mower because he was “already out mowing”. Again, had already agreed to bring the lawn mower to his shop. I also expressed concern about job he did on the lawn. I asked him to finish the lawn job. He cut the grass but did none of the other services that generally come with a professional job, particularly trimming and edging. The job was uneven and sloppily completed. He did no trimming and left the grass uncut in several areas. He explained that he charged me half of what he would have charged to cut my whole lawn but did not do half of what a full service lawn job would be. He also explained that only his regular customers get trimming and edging. I have used several lawn services in the area and never heard of this type of policy nor have I ever had a professional leave my yard looking like this. If you use this company please ask for estimates and fees in writing before the service is done. I trusted this company in a time of need because of positive reviews but received poor service and had to deal with being deliberately deceived about what fees would be. Instead of negotiating a fair price or offering to make the job right he spent time trying to convince me that this was “more than fair” and that he gave me “discounts” already. He did not address why he withheld information about fees after being asked 3 times. The fee attached to fixing the lawn mower was fair but I cannot comment on the actual repair as I haven’t went out and used the lawn mower to its full extent yet to ensure the repair was successful. Poor customer service and issue resolution. Won’t hire again.
