Hi! My name is Tenyson Graber. I teach private lessons in Massillon, Ohio at Johnny's Music Shoppe, and have been here for about 9 months now. I have a variety of instruments available to teach, including Voice, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Piano, and even Ukulele! Despite being only 22, I have over 15 years of training and about 10 years of stage/various performance & industry experience. I also have a background of Music Therapy and Psychology education to bolster my understanding of how students learn, because of this I also excel at tackling different obstacles to learning like attention deficits, or learning styles. I work particularly well with students that have special needs, and all ages of players. My skill level varies from instrument to instrument, but all beginner-intermediate students are welcome to begin lessons immediately. Any self-declared Advanced students may be asked to provide a reference of playing for assessment before being scheduled. While my perspective is always valuable, I will help find overly-proficient students a suitable instructor within the shop. String and Wind students may also inquire to me for reference to the shop to be matched with an appropriate instructor.

Tenyson is a very dedicated teacher and works to make sure you understand what you’re doing during your lesson, and why it is done that way in relation to music theory as a whole. He is always on time and is great at answering questions you may have about the lesson or work you are doing. Bass lessons are going great!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The rate for lessons is $25/30m, once a week, or $100 a month for 4 half hour lessons.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first lesson will always be assessment and goal setting. I take a holistic approach to playing and would love for your definition of success to be our goal, not mine.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have: 15 years of various music and private lessons, ensemble experience, and other schooling. I spent 2 years at Cleveland State University studying Music Therapy and Psychology. During that time, I worked as a singer for St. Johns Cathedral of the Evangelist and did various performances including with the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus. I now live in Massillon where I front my own band and work as a freelance player for artists in the NE Ohio area.
