Introduction: Hello! Thank you for viewing Handyma'am Construction's profile page. We are a fully insured, registered home improvement contracting company who are very proud of our rich construction history. Handyma'am Construction has a long and happy tradition of taking care of people's homes and businesses. We are very proud of our record and our many accomplishments. A little about the owner: Some of you may recognize the photo as "Pierre" from the Milford Home Depot Hardware Department, where I worked when I first arrived in Cincinnati. I derived tremendous satisfaction from my work over at the Milford Home Depot, (the best Home Depot) where you may recall how sincerely happy I always was to help my customers and how I frequently went above and beyond customer expectations to see that they got exactly what they needed (including tips and advice) for their projects. Heck, I'm sure I completely engineered a few high school student's science projects, too! My background is in high end interior renovations and remodels in particular in New York City's famous Park Slope and Carroll Gardens neighborhoods. I first apprenticed with the Carpenters Union in 1992. After a few years I left the union to work exclusively with a master carpenter and builder. It was under his tutelage that my carpentry skills really took off. I also had the opportunity to become proficient in other trades as well, from carpentry to masonry, plumbing, electrical, iron work, etc. We worked together for nearly 20 years until, when he retired, I started my own business. When I first moved to the Cincinnati area, the first thing I did was secure that little job over at the Home Depot in Milford where I was regarded as something of a store expert on all manner of construction related stuff. I met many wonderful friends and I loved the job but, alas it was finally time for me to move on and get back to my main work in the construction trades. Okay, enough about Pierre for now.. Handyma'am Construction: Pierre has, along with some highly skilled family members, relaunched Handyma'am Construction here in the Cincinnati area. Now everyone here can avail themselves of knowledgeable, high quality construction services they truly need to bring their projects to fruition. We provide quality and detailed customer interface coupled with a solid knowledge of techniques and materials needed to get the job done. We have over 25+ years experience working in the industry. We are highly skilled tradespeople who enjoy bringing unparalleled professionalism to customers, households and work environments. With a friendly, open and honest approach; we cater to all demographics including women in need of safe, reliable and affordable *Handyma'am services. *Ask us about our exclusive Handyma'am service. We offer a diverse team of reliable, capable and motivated technicians who take pride in our work and revel in the satisfaction of a job well done. We are completely comfortable working solo and at the same time enjoy collaborative team projects. Our communicative approach is respectful and candid. We work hard to bring creative and sound solutions to unexpected problems. We are culturally, religiously, socio-economically and racially diverse and pride ourselves on the purposeful power inherent in diversity. We at Handyma'am Construction Services believe carpentry is an art and an aesthetic that has the potential to both display beautiful craftsmanship and at the same time; serve a purposeful and practical function. Carpentry and construction are professions that can concretize our connections as humans to the world around us. Troubleshooting, restoring what once was, creating what isn't yet, fixing and fabricating, envisioning and executing... These things bring a great sense of connectedness. Having our hands engaging solidly in the pulse of life is very rewarding; a passionate creative alchemy of sorts. The materials, the manifestations and the many makings also present opportunities to meet people and practice purposefully, happily and gainfully whenever we get the chance to work together.

We loved working with the "The Handyma'am's of NYC and Beyond,". Pierce and Melanie designed, built and installed a wonderful wall mounted cat condo for our schizophrenic gatitos. The cats love it and so do we. They have more space to run about and this makes us all happier and more sane. The design aesthetic adds to our modern looking crib with its clean and sharp raw cedar finish. It's also a space saving cat condo in that it takes up space only on the wall leaving floor space free. In New York City any free space is a plus! Melanie and Pierre are friendly, funny, attentive to detail and cleanlines, experienced builders and overall enjoyable people. Excellent service, excellent custom carpentry fabrication. Highly recommend. Will use again!

Pierre did a an extremely professional and thorough job of completely remodeling our cottage bathroom. This involved replacing everything down to the wall studs - installing the insulation, new dry wall, wiring, tiling walls and floor, putting in new bath tub, building a cabinet and sink stand from scratch, redoing a closet, putting in a new door, connecting the plumbing and installing all fittings, mirror, towel racks ... the works. Pierre did all of the purchasing of materials, she worked closely with us on finding the tiles and colors we liked and worked on the place while we were overseas. The new bathroom looks gorgeous and gives some class to the cottage. My wife and I found Pierre to be an all round builder, carpenter, re-modeler with a thorough knowledge of codes and proper procedures. Plus she has good taste. Pierre is totally trustworthy and easy to work with, very relaxed working with a range of people across different culture and we would strongly recommend her - you won't regret it.

Our projects were a bit random and included the following: (1) Adjusting a high hat for a light fixture that previously prevented bulbs from being replaced easily; (2) Replacing light bulbs in 11-12 foot ceilings; (3) Installing a light fixture that also required filling in exposed edges of a rectangular opening (the light fixture had a round base); (4) Hanging art above a staircase; (5) Tightening toilet roll holders; and (6) Adjusting a loose shower handle. Pierre jumped right into the projects as soon as she arrived. We appreciated the use of drop cloths wherever work was being done as maintaining a clean work environment was important to us. Pierre skillfully helped us with most of the above while also educating/empowering us to do some of these projects on our own in the future. We also appreciated Pierre's willingness to acknowledge her own limitations (e.g. she was not familiar with how to tighten the Grohe shower handle) and advised us to seek a plumber's help on that one rather than charging us for the time. Truly, anything "he" can do, they can do also!

Great experience. They helped design and install some under-desk shelving involving custom carpentry and metal work. The crew was able to see the project through from design to execution and took care of all the details needed to make the project a success. They were able to do some fabrication off-site to keep my home clear of construction work. They kept in good contact throughout the process and were very personable while on-site. Ultimately there was a bit of a flaw in my design that I wish the crew would have spotted ahead of time so we could have saved some time and effort, but this is certainly not something I hold against them. The result is very professional and I'm sure will last for years to come. If the price and timeline works I would love to work with The HandyMa'am in the future.
