I make sure to communicate details (verbally and written) clearly with my clients. Attention to detail is very important. I want the clients to know that their job is the most important job on my list. Customer satisfaction is my main priority. I enjoy meeting new people. I love to see a happy face when the job is done. It gives me a great sense of accomplishment knowing I was able to help solve the customer's situation. Call me old fashioned, but I am not really big on social media when communicating with clients. I do not have a website or facebook page. I prefer interacting with clients face to face or in a phone call. It gives them a sense of security that we are on the same page. He came out quickly did an estimate. Scheduled immediately and completed the work in one day. I was pretty satisfied. Mike ripped out an old deck and put a small porch/deck in for me. I would have given 5 stars but I took off one point because after installing the new deck I there were 2 minor minor complaints that there was a little lip on one board that made the plank 1 cm higher so there was slight unevenness, the other thing was that the rail he put in had splinters so there were rough spots in places. He had no issue sanding that and repaired the lip with a power sander now the deck is smooth. My other issue was that I didn't know my deck wouldn't be stained and sealed. So for anyone who gets a quote make sure you know EVERYTHING that is included. That was my only disappointment in the end is that I still need to do that. I would use Mike again, I would just be very clear on communication so I know what will be included in the price.

Milli, Thank you for the review. I am glad you are happy with the porch/deck. Let me try to clear up your misunderstanding about the staining. My written estimates are very detailed. Staining was not included since we did not discuss that in our initial meeting. Sorry if you assumed stain was included. But it was not in the written estimate. If you supply the stain, I would be happy to come back and stain the porch/deck for a reasonable cost. It would only take about an hour.

I hired Mike to stain my deck and fence. He replaced a split board on the deck, repaired parts of the deck where the boards were coming away from the nails; hand cleaned the green algae, sanded the top rail, replaced an entire portion of my fence that was bowed, as well as miscellaneous pickets that were damaged. To top it all off, he even fixed my gate - all of these extras with no extra charge! His price was VERY reasonable and his work was fantastic! My deck and fence look absolutely fantastic!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard rate is $25.00 per hour plus the cost of materials (cash or personal check). If the customer wants to purchase the supplies on their own I will work with them to purchase the correct materials.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new customer my number one priority is to gain their respect. Understanding their needs and pay close attention to the details. I work at the customers convenience and offer suggestions to improve the job and or save the customer money.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in business for five years. I gained my experience through years of DIY and working for my brother and step-son. Both having remodeling businesses of their own.
