FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is sometimes negotiable based on circumstances but typically a drop in is $15.00 for up to three dogs / $5.00 for each additional dog, $15.00 for up to three cats / $2.00 for each additional cat, overnight stays in their home are $45.00 per night for up to three dogs / $80.00 per night for four or more dogs, I charge an extra $12.00 to stay overnight on a major holiday, I request a *one* time fee of $10.00 if I'm to administer injectable medications or IV fluids for dehydration and a *one* time fee of $5.00 if I'm expected to administer oral medications. These fees help me to offset the costs of my liability coverage pertaining to medication administration.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I find it best to do a meet and greet with both the clients and their pets first. I believe it works well if I let the clients choose the location, date and time that works best for them. Policy Note: While providing live in care, I will gladly walk your dog / dogs around your neighborhood or in a nearby Metro / State park but I will not take them to any "open area" dog parks. I apologize for any inconvienance but this is strictly for their health and safety only.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am now officially NAPPS (National Assoc. of Professional Pet Sitters) certified! It was a challenging course but well worth the effort! I learned so many relevant and helpful facts pertaining to pet care and I'm fully certified in the use of both Pet First Aid and CPR. I also know my previous experience as a paramedic assists me in reading medication doses and also administering subcutaneous injections. I still feel that most of my training came simply from life experiences. I've always had animals and just watching them has taught me so much. I know the typical signs a dog shows when he's angry or doesn't want to be touched, I know how to care for an ailing and partially blind pet, I understand that not all cats want to be held...a lot of the basics that make it much easier to efficiently care for your pet.
