I need to speak with the prospective client on the phone in order to get a clear picture of their needs and provide an accurate quote.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't just ask a performer "How much do you charge?" Allow the performer to ask you a series of questions to determine your needs and then they can give you a price. There are many factors that can affect price (size of audience, location, type of show, etc...) After talking with the potential performer on the phone ask yourself "Was the person polite, friendly and likeable?" This is especially important if you are planning to invite this person into home to entertain children. Why would you want to hire an unpleasant person? Go with your gut feelings when speaking with an entertainer. If the person is pushy, arrogant, or puts a "hard sell" that's an indication that they will not be very entertaining.
