Introduction: I’m a pianist/keyboardist and singer (with flute and accordion in my back pocket). My training and experience spans decades of experience onstage (Oregon Shakespeare Festival and many other professional theatres) and from music study at the Cornish College of the Arts and Mt. Darcy has done superb work for me on three different projects, from creating piano accompaniments and multi-voice arrangements of complete shows (Dogpark, Holmes and Watson Save the Empire) to cleaning up my song drafts into clear, readable notation (The Doll People). What types of customers have you worked with?
I will coach voices to meet their goals, such as singing in a chorus, auditioning for a part, preparing for a recording, or building their own skill level. I accompany singers and instrumentalists on piano or keyboard by sight-reading music notation (sheet music) or charts (fake books). My main tasks recently center on score preparation - that is, notation of newly-composed materials for publication. I also arrange for small or large ensembles and deliver high quality notated sheet music made-to-order.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask plenty of questions, and be open to creative input to ideas outside of your experience. Like any expert services, the provider knows her craft very well. Unlike more brick-and-mortar services, a person who brings music and voice work into the mix also opens doors to emotions, inspiration and a very memorable experience.
