Spyker is a Senior Attorney with Hernandez and Associates and an adjunct Professor at Lewis and Clark College of Law. He specializes in advising families and business owners looking to preserve and transfer assets. These assets include residential and commercial properties as well as life insurance and investment products. Javier is dedicated to providing our clients with the highest quality legal services delivered in a straight-forward manner. An Oregon native, Javier received his law degree from Willamette University College of Law. Javier is active in the Estate Planning and Diversity and Inclusion sections of the Oregon State Bar. Outside of work, Javier is an avid golfer and enjoys spending time with his family. Audrey S. Tam is an Associate Attorney with Hernandez and Associates. Born and raised in Portland, Audrey received her law degree from Lewis and Clark College of Law. She earned her Bachelors of Arts Degree in English at the University of California, Irvine. Audrey is a member of the Estate Planning and Elder Law sections of the Oregon State Bar. She is active in the local community and volunteers as a pro bono attorney and in her children’s school. Audrey is a fluent Cantonese and Mandarin speaker. Her practice focuses on probate and estate planning for young families. Paralegal Alexandria Arces is a paralegal with Hernandez and Associates. She previously worked as a legal assistant prior to earning her paralegal certificate in 2021. Alexandria is bilingual in English and Spanish and is well-versed in assisting clients across all areas of our practice.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The orderly transition of your estate can be accomplished by competent advanced planning. The fact is that in the event of your incapacity or death the responsibility will fall upon your heirs or trusted companions to manage your estate. Without estate planning your heirs will usually receive less and they will receive it later. Also, you leave the state systems to appoint a guardian over your minor children. The guardian will decide where and how your children will live, be educated and worship. Estate Planning can help provide for your heirs by: distributing property quickly, minimizing expenses, reducing taxes, coordinating healthcare and incapacity issues, aiding business succession, honoring religious beliefs and supporting charitable causes.
