Our staff is experienced and detail oriented. We accept intact males, females in heat, aggression issues, and the socially challenged dogs. Individual kennels, as well as outdoor runs allow for the safety and comfort of your canine family member while providing you peace of mind. Individual walks on our walking paths add another layer of fun and exercise for your pet in the natural landscape of the High Desert. I am very impressed with Shelby Dean, of Dean's K9 Training, from day one. Shelby emphasizes positive reinforcement and teaches you how to get your dogs to be focused and ready to learn. She evaluates each dog in a comfortable environment and focused on their individual needs. In just a few hours of instruction, and of course practice in between, my dogs learned basic and important commands such as sit, down, off, stay and come. We've had training sessions at outdoor coffee shops to teach my dogs to sit quietly in a social setting. We also went to parks to practice under distraction. I now possess practical knowledge and can be more effective when conducting additional training. It's also much easier and fun for me to teach my dogs desirable behaviors now. Shelby is wonderful to work with and I highly recommend her.

Shelby and her dogs were great to work with. She was great at listening to what problems our dog (and we) were having. After one session we had made progress. She also gave us plenty of tips to take home and work on. Our dog (and our blood pressure) is doing alot better thanks to Shelby!

Decided not to leave my dog there after a preliminary visit. Area not fenced at all. Dog feces everywhere. 10 or more large breed dogs (mostly German Shepherds) all in 3x6 kennels inside an enclosed shed. Owner stated that she walked each dog on a daily basis, however did not feel comfortable with her accommodations.

$45 per session or Board and train programs A complete and intensive training program that concentrates on behavior and social issues that are often hard for an owner to overcome by themselves. This program can be a 2 week, 4 week or 6 week program. $350, $700, $950
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started my animal training career at 13 when I started training horses professionally. I was very successful as a horse trainer and loved my work dearly. But sadly I had to give it up after an injury, and my natural choice would be to continue working with animals. I chose dogs becuase of their natural ability to help and heal people. I will be forever gratefull of the love and healing they gave me through my injuries.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure you feel good about the trainer. Make sure they really understand animals. Don't be overly impressed by fancy pieces of paper that say they went to this school or that. Training animals is a talent and its perfected by years of working with them. It is not gained in a twelve week course online.
